Tetra Tech served as the general contractor for the planning, design, engineering, and construction of the 1st Brigade Facilities in support of the Iraqi military at Al Rasheed, located on the southern outskirts of Baghdad. The project included design-build (D-B) of HQ buildings, barracks, dining facilities (DFAC), maintenance buildings, classrooms, theater, and other facilities to support 3,000 Iraqi military personnel. Tetra Tech effectively established a large life support operation at the site to house and support up to 1,800 workers.
- Developed Engineering Plans and specifications to construct over 400,000 SF of masonry buildings. The brigade facilities encompassed over 100 structures, including 23 barracks, 24 headquarters buildings, classrooms, 4 maintenance shops, 6-bay maintenance buildings, bakeries, laundry facilities, clinics, theaters, 17 guard houses, fire stations, PX buildings, fuel stations, communications systems, warehouses, and jails.
- Also responsible for all site work and utilities to support the Iraqi Army at the Al Rasheed Military Base on the southern outskirts of Baghdad. We constructed over 5 miles of access roads, nearly 20,000 LF of fencing, an electrical power plant and distribution system, an 8,200 LF potable water main, 8,200 LF sanitary sewer main, and storm sewer system using an in-country engineering cell with reach-back support in order to achieve the aggressive schedules.
- This project was completed on a very aggressive 11-month schedule.
Safety Highlight. This project exceeded 3 million hours without a lost workday case.
