ASRC, Chukchi Sea Multibeam Bathymetry Survey, Alaska

TtEC was selected to perform multibeam and single beam survey data collection and processing. Data acquisition, interpretation, and reporting for this survey were required to meet or exceed the Minerals Management Service requirements as identified in the latest Alaska OCS Region Notices to Lessees. The survey area, comprised of four individual sites approximately 25 square kilometers each, was located off the northwestern coast of Alaska approximately 250 to 400 kilometers (km) due west of Point Barrow, Alaska. TtEC outfitted a 55 meter long research vessel R/V Cape Flattery with a full complement of high-precision sensors.

The primary acquisition system used was Coastal Oceanographics HYPACK® Max hydrographic software utilizing the HYSWEEP® multibeam module. The system merged precise time tagged data from the various sensors and data displays for QC as well as providing real time vessel navigation information. Post processing of the multibeam data was conducted utilizing CARIS® hydrographic information processing system (HIPS) workstations. Further editing and surface analysis was performed with IVS-3D Fledermaus Pro software.
