TtEC has successfully performed three environmental remediation/ restoration projects for Alcoa, Inc. (Alcoa) at their Troutdale, Oregon site under a Master Contract. Our projects included a $780K Focused Extraction/Production Well Optimization (FE/PWO) System, a $1.2M South Landfill Remediation project, and a $13.5M Smelter Plant Demolition. Due to our excellent performance, Alcoa extended our contract.
The Former Reynolds Metals Corp. (RMC) Plant Demolition project consisted of the cleaning/ decontamination, abatement and demolition of 25 acres of structures at the 60-year old smelter and the removal and disposal of soils/materials contaminated with PCBs, asbestos, lead, coal tar pitch (PAHs), beryllium, mercury, fluoride, and Spent Pot Liner (SPL) which is a RCRA-listed hazardous waste.
As Prime Remediation Contractor, TtEC was responsible for furnishing all construction management, engineering, design, supervision, labor, materials, employee training, tools, equipment, unloading, loading, hauling, taxes, insurance to perform all demolition activities required for the complete removal, loading, transport, and disposal of all facilities and materials at the plant. Most impressive are the quantities of material we handled during the project: 39,000 windows & 700,000 square feet of roofing/siding contaminated with ACM and PCBs, 7,634 tons of fresh/reacted ore, 2,147 tons of coke/carbon products, 33,997 tons of steel, 11,793 gallons of used oil, 4,117 tons of copper, 1,859 tons of aluminum, 338 tons of asbestos, 6,683 tons of PCB bulk product waste, 172 tons of PCB waste, 551 tons of recycle paper/cardboard/wood, 10,081 tons (699 pots) of SPL, 12,392 tons of demolition debris, 1,135 tons of bath, 898 tons of aluminum pot pads, 48 tons of RCRA waste, 53,395 tons of non-hazardous soil/brick/process materials, and 95 percent of the remaining equipment and tools was sold.
